Deborah’s Charity pick

“April is National Child Protection month and I support the NY Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children, the oldest child welfare org in the country.

I am a member of their Children’s Council. Last week we were supposed to have our Spring benefit luncheon, which featured Brad Edwards, attorney for a number of Jeffrey Epstein victims.  Due to the pandemic the event was cancelled but held virtually — and about 200 people dialed in for Mr. Edwards riveting presentation on how these courageous women came forward against Epstein.

The Society provides all kinds of trauma recovery and support services for abused children and their families (often they are the entity family court mandates victims see) and child abuse doesn’t end, just because people are in lockdown, in fact, it gets worse.”

Today, The NYSPCC remains dedicated to reducing the incidences and impacts of child abuse and neglect through prevention programs that improve the safety of children and intervention programs that help children and families to heal. Over the past 144 years, the agency has served more than two million children.
